Tegao corrugated-tube heat-exchanger constructions

One individually reviewed construction brief consolidates repeated source descriptions; tube material, selected duty and vessel arrangement still need an issued design.

01 / UNDERSTAND THE EQUIPMENT

Approve the tube bundle and duty before accepting a corrugated-tube claim

Tegao describes a shell-and-tube heat-exchanger construction using thin-wall stainless-steel or copper corrugated tubes in place of plain tubes. Its official page lists steam-to-water and water-to-water heat exchange for heating, air-conditioning and domestic-water duties, as well as industrial applications. The explanation attributes increased fluid disturbance, reduced scale adhesion and thermal-stress compensation to the shaped tubes. It supplies no measured heat-transfer coefficient, selected duty, wall thickness, material grade or pressure/temperature rating.

The standard exchanger and the storage/semi-storage product page repeat the same technical description. They are consolidated here as one construction assessment rather than treated as two independently specified products. The original standard-family photograph shows a horizontal cylindrical shell with end flanges, upper connections and feet. The internal tubes cannot be inspected from that image. Require the actual ordered tube bundle and storage arrangement before assuming an application, material or claimed stress-compensation benefit.

Selection and application review

Select the service and actual shell arrangement

State whether the equipment serves a heating loop, air-conditioning water or domestic hot water, and whether stored water is required. The source lists multiple uses without a selected design for any one of them. Ask for the issued shell/bundle layout, connection schedule and thermal selection for the actual service.

The storage/semi-storage page repeats the standard construction text. Its title alone does not prove usable storage, recovery performance or a different tube bundle. This catalogue therefore does not create a second search page from the same description. A quotation must explicitly define the additional storage arrangement if it is needed.

Choose material through the actual two-fluid conditions

Provide the fluid composition and water-quality information for both sides and ask for the exact proposed tube and shell materials. ‘Stainless steel or copper’ is a choice offered by the supplier, not a universal approval for a fluid, temperature or building-water application. Obtain the material grades, tube thickness and supporting compatibility statement for the selected order.

Clarify which material certificates and traceability records are delivered. The website’s phrase ‘thin wall’ supplies no numerical dimension, corrosion allowance or life prediction. Avoid comparing quotations with different materials or internal construction as if they were the same exchanger.

Ask for a rated thermal and hydraulic selection

Request heat duty and both fluids’ inlet/outlet temperatures and flows at one simultaneous operating point. Obtain pressure losses and the assumptions used in that selection. The described disturbance of fluid flow does not provide a quantified efficiency gain or prove that a smaller shell meets the building’s duty.

Ask for the operating envelope and available evidence for the actual design. No guaranteed output, approach temperature or percentage improvement can be extracted from the reviewed pages. The standard-family picture does not identify a model number or capacity.

Verify stress and cleaning provisions from the design

The supplier says corrugated-tube expansion/contraction compensates thermal stress and that an expansion joint is unnecessary. Require the responsible designer and manufacturer to substantiate the actual arrangement for the ordered temperatures, materials and cycling conditions. A general marketing sentence is not a design calculation or an exemption for any installation.

Similarly, reduced scale adhesion is not a cleaning exemption. Ask for the approved water-quality limits, inspection method, cleaning access and replacement-bundle arrangements. The shell photograph does not show how internal fouling would be inspected or how a bundle would be removed.

Freeze the purchase and inspection boundary

Obtain the vessel design limits, issued dimensions, support loads and nozzle schedule together with the thermal selection. Specify which valves, instruments and controls are included and which are external to the exchanger. Have the actual contracting/manufacturing party identify the required current pressure-equipment and inspection dossier.

Compare the selected construction, materials, duty and documented acceptance scope before price. The reviewed sources establish a product construction and its supplier-described alternatives, but not current stock, lead time or independently measured performance. This page is not a generic model-capacity list.
