EQUIPMENT / EQUIPMENT FAMILY

ZEL Lambda compact hermetic compressor platforms

Choose the exact refrigerant, suffix and start arrangement; compact dimensions and a family COP column are insufficient for an appliance selection.

01 / UNDERSTAND THE EQUIPMENT

Select Lambda through model identity and electrical arrangement

ZEL’s Lambda platform is positioned as compact in the official company overview. The individually reviewed R600a page lists eighteen rows across HDL, HML, HPL and HXL model groups, with aluminium/copper winding and RSIR/RSCR, CSCR or RSCR motor/start designations. The R134a page lists eleven rows across GDL, GML, GPL and GXL groups. These refrigerant alternatives are consolidated into one platform assessment rather than presented as interchangeable compressors or duplicated voltage/size pages.

The R600a family photograph clearly identifies HDL140A, 220–240 V, 50 Hz and R600a; that is one photographed configuration, not the full platform. Its published table includes HDL140A and separately labelled variants with different motor/start data. The source also provides family temperature/pressure limits, but not a complete thermal-rating method or all column units. This brief separates usable identification data from the exact-model selection and integration evidence still needed for an appliance order.

The manufacturer-linked catalogue adds a unit-labelled ASHRAE LBP schedule and an HDL140A example, but its input/COP values differ from the webpage. The two source versions are reported separately; neither is silently substituted as the current order specification.

Selection and application review

Use the photographed HDL140A as identification evidence

The original Lambda image has a readable HDL140A R600a nameplate marked 220–240 V and 50 Hz. Its connections, shell and resilient mounting feet can be seen, but there is no dimensioned drawing. The website table has an HDL140A row with aluminium winding and RSIR/RSCR designation. Request the exact shipped suffix and its electrical/application file rather than assuming every Lambda uses this pictured supply.

The page lists 220–240, 115 and 100 V alternatives at family level. These are not one compressor’s universal input range. Confirm the ordered nameplate, frequency and matching start equipment independently.

Keep refrigerant and motor variants in the selected order

The R600a table includes HDL, HML, HPL and HXL groups, while the R134a table uses different model identifiers. The model groups also differ in winding entries and motor/start codes. Ask the manufacturer to identify the exact refrigerant-approved assembly and electrical arrangement for the intended appliance.

The compact-platform description does not authorise a refrigerant substitution or replacement by equal nominal displacement. The supplier’s asterisk on some models is not explained by the reviewed text; obtain its meaning before treating starred and unstarred entries as the same order item.

The catalogue naming page explicitly maps H/G/N to R600a/R134a/R290 and the compact-platform voltage suffixes to specific supplies. Use that document’s naming only for the applicable actual revision; it does not establish interchangeability. Its footnotes mark some releases as pending and some high-efficiency models as alternatives preferring Zeta, so catalogue presence is not proof of current stock.

Use the catalogue rating conditions and reconcile the two versions

The manufacturer-linked catalogue’s physical page 5 identifies static-cooling LBP tests at evaporation −23.3°C and condensation 54.4°C. It labels suction, ambient and “subcooling temperature” as 32.2°C each. The last label is reproduced as a temperature, not converted into a guessed degree of subcooling. These are catalogue test conditions, not the complete appliance operating envelope.

At those conditions, the HDL140A row gives R600a, 220–240 V/50 Hz, 140 W cooling, 81 W input and COP 1.72 W/W. Its other entries are Al, 8.0 cm³, RSCR, 2.5 µF running capacitance, 164 mm height and 7.2 kg. The webpage’s HDL140A row instead gives input 80 and COP 1.76 and a broader start-code label. Retain the difference and obtain the current revision with matched start equipment; do not combine whichever figures appear most attractive.

Webpage difference

Same identifier has input 80, COP 1.76 and different motor/start wording; no complete web test basis.

Order decision

Require the current suffix-specific rating and electrical file, with revision and conditions.

Compare electrical and mechanical integration together

The R600a table differentiates aluminium HDL/HML entries and copper HDL/HPL/HXL entries, with different start designations. The exact starting components, capacitor specification and protection arrangement must come from the selected model’s file. A winding-material label alone is not a quality ranking or lifetime comparison.

Request the actual mounting footprint, connection dimensions and service/installation instructions. The catalogue labels height and mass units, but provides no installation-clearance or support-load approval for a selected appliance in those rows. Verify the precise order arrangement with the appliance designer.

Request a corrected and comparable model dossier

An effective enquiry identifies the selected model/suffix, refrigerant, supply, required duty conditions and start/control constraints. Ask for a current datasheet that explicitly labels units and rating method, explains any asterisk and resolves zero placeholders. Compare models only after the manufacturer supplies data on the same basis.

Confirm the start equipment and accessories supplied, application-validation scope, traceability and commercial terms. This source-based review establishes the platform’s real distinctions and one readable pictured configuration; it does not establish current stock, selected appliance performance or blanket certification.

Confirmed source identity

Lambda platform, refrigerant-specific groups and readable HDL140A photo.

Useful selection distinctions

Evidence still required
