01 / UNDERSTAND THE EQUIPMENT

Resolve the DX arrangement before selecting the air handler

Hanwei’s actual product-item-27 page is titled 直膨式空气处理机组, but its detailed text describes a combined sectional air handler, including water-resistance language and coil-header drain/vent valves. It publishes a broad 2,000–200,000 m³/h design airflow range and selectable air-treatment sections. That is not an exact DX model rating or proof that a complete refrigeration package is included.

The actual main image depicts a sectional cabinet beside an outdoor-style unit. Two detail photographs show cabinet doors, gauges/sight ports and a controls panel. None provides a readable numerical model schedule or refrigerant-circuit diagram. Use the publication as a construction and enquiry reference, while requiring an explicit selected-system drawing and technical schedule.

Selection and application review

Separate three questions hidden under the DX title

A sectional air handler describes the air path and cabinet; direct expansion describes a refrigerant evaporator arrangement. The page’s heading, water-side text and illustration do not settle what will be delivered. Ask the supplier to mark the selected coil type and refrigeration components on a current system drawing.

Air-side assembly

Which mixing, filter, coil, heating, humidity, recovery and fan sections are included, in what order?

Refrigeration package

Which outdoor/compressor unit, refrigerant circuits, expansion/control devices and operating modes match this coil?

Site interface

Who supplies piping, insulation, electrical protection, drainage and commissioning, with what installation limits?

Write the entering and leaving air conditions

Specify outdoor and return-air quantities, entering dry-bulb/humidity conditions, required supply-air condition and room/process load. For a moisture-sensitive application, state the absolute moisture or dew-point target and the moisture entering the process. A nominal cooling capacity cannot alone prove humidity control.

Ask for total and sensible cooling, moisture removal and leaving-air conditions at the agreed mix and airflow. Identify any reheat, humidification or desiccant stage separately. The catalogue offers several section types; it does not give this unit’s latent capacity, leaving dew point or a quantified control tolerance. Do not transfer figures from Hanwei’s separate rotary or liquid-desiccant equipment.

Select the fan after the complete air path is defined

Provide required external static pressure and account for the selected internal filters, coils, recovery and attenuation sections. Confirm whether the quoted pressure is external, fan static or total, and which filter condition is used. The broad airflow range has no accompanying pressure schedule.

Review the actual fan curve, operating point, speed/drive and motor input with air density and test basis. Check clean and loaded-filter operation and any permitted speed control. A balanced impeller/pulley statement does not establish acoustic performance or stable operation at every flow. The forward- and backward-curved alternatives require separate selections rather than a single assumed efficiency.

Make drainage and service clearance part of the drawing

The supplier describes a sloped insulated pan and inspection doors. For the selected fan/coil arrangement, establish the pressure at the drain, trap design, drain fall and service access with the responsible installer. A sloped tray alone does not prove it will drain under operating pressure. Check the actual arrangement during commissioning.

Obtain casing dimensions, delivery-section splits and connection/support details. Reserve space for filter and coil removal, door opening and fan/drive maintenance. Confirm lifting and plantroom access before ordering a large sectional assembly; a photograph showing doors does not establish sufficient space at the buyer’s site.

Define casing, filtration and controls without implied ratings

The page describes colour-coated steel, aluminium framing and air-tight inspection doors but gives no measured leakage, thermal or corrosion classification. Request the selected panel/insulation construction and relevant test evidence if the project requires defined classes. Agree filter grades and sizes through the actual project specification, not the broad “initial/medium/high-efficiency” wording alone.

Hanwei offers customised automatic controls without a sequence or interface schedule. Require sensor locations, temperature/humidity control, fan and refrigeration interlocks, condensate/freeze protection and fault handling appropriate to the selected package. Confirm communication protocols and control responsibility rather than infer integration from a photographed display.

Accept a documented air-treatment duty

The publication establishes no fixed model price, lead time or warranty. Compare quotations against the same air-process and supply boundary, so a water-coil cabinet, a DX indoor assembly and a complete matched system are not treated as equivalent offers.

  1. Before quotation

Issue airflow/pressure, entering/leaving conditions, moisture duty, selected sections, utilities and site constraints.

  2. Before manufacture

Approve exact coil/refrigeration arrangement, fan selection, dimensions/access, casing/filter construction and control sequence.

  3. At commissioning

Verify air quantity, pressure, temperature/humidity and drainage at agreed conditions; hand over selection reports, controls and maintenance instructions.
