01 / UNDERSTAND THE EQUIPMENT

Choose outdoor cabinet cooling using the site power and heat-load envelope

Envicool's DC integrated cabinet air conditioner is described for outdoor telecom cabinets at sites with on-site DC power, including renewable or hybrid supplies. The page names a DC inverter compressor, load-responsive fan speed, IP55 and normal operation at 55°C. Its EC outdoor-cabinet page gives a 500–5000 W selectable capacity range, RS485/MODBUS, front maintenance and an optional access-control alarm output. These related outdoor cabinet choices are consolidated here, while keeping their power and range statements separate.

The EC capacity range is not assigned to the DC product, whose selected rating is absent from the reviewed text. Optional DC hydrogen-discharge/emergency-fan controls do not establish a hazardous-area equipment approval. The original DC illustration shows a flat cabinet attachment with ventilated panels; it is not a issued mounting or wiring drawing. Ten-year continuous-service, washability, corrosion and energy claims remain supplier statements until supported for the ordered configuration and installation. Selection should start with cabinet heat, solar/ambient exposure and the actual available power bus.

Selection and application review

Select against cabinet heat and the actual power bus

Issue equipment heat dissipation, cabinet dimensions/materials, installation exposure and permitted internal temperatures. Include the relevant outdoor design conditions and ask for selected cooling duty/input, rather than using a family range as a site rating. The DC text lacks a numeric cooling schedule; the 500–5000 W envelope belongs to EC.

Provide actual available power voltage, variation and limits. Request selected input, startup/transient demand and protective requirements. Compatibility with DC sites does not establish a particular nominal voltage or permission to wire the product to an unspecified battery bus.

Define enclosure and outdoor exposure for the installation

Request the selected IP boundary, cabinet opening/gasket drawing and relevant test evidence. A product IP55 statement does not automatically qualify a modified cabinet or every site penetration. Agree exposure requirements and actual materials/corrosion evidence where they matter.

For 55°C operation, obtain capacity/input and derating at the required internal/external conditions. It is an operating claim, not proof that nominal cooling duty remains unchanged. Confirm condensate treatment and maintenance access on the issued installation.

Keep hydrogen-related options within their stated scope

If the DC hydrogen-discharge or emergency-fan option is requested, obtain its intended application, sensors, thresholds and control sequence. Confirm responsibilities with the site designer. The source does not supply a hazardous-area classification or an explosion-protection certificate.

Do not assume these controls are included or that they establish protection for any gas exposure. Define the required equipment approvals separately from optional ventilation/control functions. No gas concentration or emergency response threshold is invented.

Integrate restart and monitoring explicitly

Obtain MODBUS registers, RS485 wiring, alarm outputs and behaviour on lost communication or power. Agree power-on restart against the protected cabinet equipment and define high-temperature alarms and the relevant response. An LCD language choice is not a complete supervisory interface.

For EC, confirm whether the optional access-control output is supplied and how it is used. For the DC inverter/fans, request the actual modulation/control limits. No independent energy saving is inferred from variable-speed hardware alone.

Accept cooling, ingress and maintenance separately

Approve mounting/support, airflow clearances and service procedures for the ordered model. Follow the manufacturer's permitted cleaning instructions; external-washing wording is not unrestricted authorization to wash energized equipment or every installed connection.

Measure thermal/input performance at the selected cabinet/ambient point and test alarms/restart. Keep enclosure evidence, sound and service-life claims separate from thermal acceptance. Current price, lead time and independently verified lifecycle are unknown.

DC integrated selection

Verify actual DC supply and rating; treat gas/emergency controls as separately ordered options.

EC outdoor selection

Use EC’s 500–5000 W envelope only after a selected cabinet/ambient duty.

Installed boundary

Approve cabinet opening/IP scope, drainage, monitoring and issued cleaning/service procedures.
