Direct drive
Identify motor location, usable speed/control range, removal route and whether the motor is exposed to the selected air temperature.
A broad mixed-flow family with direct or belt drive; smoke and special-environment applications need exact assembly evidence.

Laienke publishes HL as an efficient mixed-flow fan family for building ventilation and special applications. The item lists impeller diameters of 400–1,250 mm, airflow of 800–100,000 m³/h and static pressure of 50–1,600 Pa, with direct-drive and belt-drive arrangements. It also mentions explosion-resistant, corrosion-related and smoke-exhaust applications. Those descriptions establish the supplier's offered scope; they do not certify every HL configuration for those duties.
A useful enquiry starts with the pressure-flow operating point and whether the ordered assembly is ordinary duct ventilation, a smoke-exhaust fan or a fan for a specified hazardous or corrosive atmosphere. The source does not provide an exact size/speed matrix, operating-temperature/time rating, hazardous-zone designation or certification identifier. Resolve those items before an HL family name is entered into a fire or process equipment schedule. The same enquiry should identify how the chosen drive can be installed, inspected and maintained in the available space.
This is an equipment family; its range does not identify one orderable configuration.

| Parameter | Published value | Conditions and evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Construction / family | HL mixed-flow engineering fan range | Supplier's family designation; exact size, drive and assembly remain necessary. Source |
| Impeller diameter | 400–1,250 mm | Published family span; casing and installation dimensions are not given by this range. Source |
| Airflow | 800–100,000 m³/h | Family range, not one model's adjustable airflow envelope. Source |
| Pressure | 50–1,600 Pa static pressure | Manufacturer explicitly labels static pressure; do not compare directly with a total-pressure rating. Source |
| Drive choices | Direct drive or belt drive | Offered arrangements, not confirmation that every size is available in both versions. Source |
HL's pressure range is labelled static pressure. A competing centrifugal fan may be quoted by total pressure, which also accounts for velocity pressure under its defined test arrangement. Comparing those numbers without matching the basis can produce a misleading selection. Request the offered HL curve with density, speed and installation/test arrangement, and have the supplier identify whether the project duty is external static, fan static or another stated basis.
Do not combine 100,000 m³/h with 1,600 Pa simply because both appear in the family description. Obtain a selected size, speed, absorbed power and motor margin at the proposed operating point. If duct transitions, silencers or dampers are close to the fan, show their arrangement in the enquiry so the supplier can state any installation effects rather than assuming a laboratory inlet and outlet.
The source offers both arrangements without specifying a maintenance schedule, belt type or motor position for every model. Ask for a controlled outline showing the motor, inspection access, guards and support loads. Compare the actual assembly and maintenance space rather than concluding that one arrangement is universally better.
Identify motor location, usable speed/control range, removal route and whether the motor is exposed to the selected air temperature.
Identify belts and pulley ratio, guards, adjustment access, bearing responsibilities and the planned inspection procedure.
The catalogue includes smoke exhaust among HL applications, but the reviewed item gives no temperature/time classification, test certificate, issuing body or model coverage. Ask for the exact smoke-duty assembly, report and applicable destination requirement, including motor, drive, casing, controls and installation. Ordinary continuous ventilation and emergency smoke operation may require different settings or configurations; have the supplier state them separately.
A general in-house laboratory procedure or a company's management-system certificate cannot substitute for a fire-duty report. The supplier's testing page describes aerodynamic, noise, vibration and reliability methods; it does not establish a smoke-temperature result for the selected HL. Do not infer a temperature from another fan family or an image.
The page mentions explosion-resistant and corrosion-related applications without naming a zone, gas or dust group, temperature class, concentration, coating, alloy or certification scheme. Supply the site's classification and the air-stream constituents, temperature and moisture conditions. Ask which parts are designed for that environment, and what report or conformity document covers the complete assembly.
An explosion-resistant motor alone does not establish impeller/casing clearances, non-sparking construction or complete fan conformity. A generic corrosion label also does not identify the suitable material for a specific chemical. Resolve these boundaries before comparing prices or accepting the ordinary ventilation version for a special duty.
Return a specification with airflow, static-pressure definition, density, temperature, duty duration, mounting, supply/control, drive choice and site environment. Require the supplier's model selection, marked curve, motor data, outline, drive/guard details and inspection plan. Add smoke or hazardous-duty documents only where applicable and matched to the offered assembly.
For running acceptance, record the agreed airflow and pressure basis, speed, motor input, vibration and noise conditions. Laienke's published laboratory procedure describes stable-point measurements and calibrated instruments, so these can be requested explicitly. Service terms, commissioning attendance, spare belts or bearings and destination support remain contract items. No stock, price, delivery time or independently verified certification has been established in this review.
