DCLCDA is Dunham-Bush's gas-bearing centrifugal chilled-water family, with a published cooling range of 50–300 RT. The official description uses oil-free gas/liquid two-phase suspension and permanent-magnet variable-speed control, combined with an economizer, flooded evaporator and two-stage throttling. Static-pressure gas-bearing wording distinguishes it from the magnetic-bearing DCLC(D)M offer; the two descriptions are not merged into a generic oil-free machine.
The supplier positions DCLCDA for year-round cooling plant projects such as retrofits, data centres, pharmaceutical and medical buildings. Application labels do not establish medical, process or uptime validation. The source provides no model-specific stable load envelope, water-condition rating table or issued bearing-protection sequence. A useful enquiry therefore starts with actual year-round load and heat-sink conditions, then requests the selected compressor/bearing and controller documentation. R134a and R513A are named refrigerants, with no assumption that both are fitted to one unit.
This is an equipment family; its range does not identify one orderable configuration.
Swipe the table, or focus it and use arrow keys, to read the conditions and sources.
| Parameter | Published value | Conditions and evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Published range | 50–300 RT | No selected water-condition rating table inspected. Source |
| Bearing/compressor description | Oil-free gas/liquid two-phase suspension; static-pressure gas bearing | Supplier architecture language; actual bearing sequence needs documentation. Source |
| Heat-exchanger/control features | Flooded evaporator, economizer and two-stage throttling | Active liquid-level control described; no controller settings supplied. Source |
| Refrigerants named | R134a and R513A | Selected order must identify actual refrigerant and charge. Source |
| Controller/integration | CCS TOUCH and optional I-VISION/protocol choices | No selected register list or plant control design reviewed. Source |
Issue minimum, peak and intermediate cooling loads, chilled-water temperatures and seasonal condenser-water conditions. Request capacity, complete input and stable operating limits across the intended annual envelope. A 50–300 RT catalogue range does not settle low-load cycling, winter operation or the selected machine's output.
Describe the process temperature tolerance and response to a cooling interruption where pharmaceutical or medical use is involved. Those application words are not regulatory qualification or a verified uptime result. Agree plant redundancy separately from the machine's protective controls.
Ask for the actual compressor arrangement, bearing-support medium, startup/coast-down procedure and power interruption protection. The source names gas/liquid two-phase suspension and static-pressure bearings, but does not expose enough detail to derive a bearing supply circuit or permissible restart time. Do not transfer magnetic-bearing hardware assumptions to this product.
Oil-free wording removes the described lubrication-oil requirement; it does not prove that all components have zero maintenance. Obtain inspected-component schedules, bearing/controller spares and service qualifications for the ordered configuration.
Obtain the selected refrigerant charge, economizer and throttling diagram, active liquid-level strategy and water-flow limits. Ask how low flow, sensor failure and abnormal liquid level are detected and what the machine and plant must do. The reviewed page publishes no numerical liquid-level tolerance or commissioned setpoint.
Issue allowable evaporator/condenser pressure drops and actual water quality. Freeze cleaning, isolation and drainage provisions in the plant drawing rather than inferring hydraulic suitability from the compact product rendering.
Request current model-specific energy/AHRI evidence where required; supplier certification wording is not a checked issuer listing for every unit. LEED-use language does not certify the chiller or the future building. Obtain an actual matched water-duty rating before claiming annual savings.
Choose the installed protocol from the advertised Modbus, Bacnet and Profibus options and obtain registers, fault history and supervisory permissions. Commission stable load operation, level/flow protection, restart and BMS communication against the signed selection. Current price, delivery and independently verified operating savings remain unknown.
Require actual bearing support and power-loss/start sequence.
Approve selected rating, flow limits, refrigerant and active-level control.
Witness minimum-load operation, protective states and ordered supervision.
