Select the UNICOOL supply, outdoor envelope and remaining cooling duty
UNICOOL is AIRSYS's variable-speed packaged air conditioner for equipment shelters, container data centres and similar electronic-equipment spaces. It combines mechanical refrigeration and outside-air free cooling, is intended for exterior wall installation, and offers top/bottom supply constructions and several electrical variants. Its catalogue contains separate 50 Hz and 60 Hz schedules, so a nominal cooling label alone does not identify the delivered unit.
The official page labels its linked sample E2011V01.3, but the downloaded cover prints E2011V01.2. This review records the actual document. A visible 50 Hz example, UNI.7V1B2 at 230 V single-phase, gives 7.2 kW total and 6.0 kW sensible rated cooling at 95 °F outdoor and 80/67 °F indoor dry/wet bulb. Maximum capacity, minimum capacity and free-cooling entries have separate meanings and conditions; they are not all available at one operating point.

Selection and application review
Keep nominal, rated, maximum and sensible capacity apart
The 50 Hz UNI.7V1B2 table lists 7.2 kW total rated capacity, 6.0 kW sensible capacity, 8.9 kW maximum cooling and 3.6 kW minimum cooling. It prints a separate free-cooling rating of 9.1 kW at a 21.6 °F temperature difference. The range on the brochure cover includes limits drawn from several units and modes; it is not the controllable range of every model.
Use the equipment-room sensible load and actual indoor/outdoor conditions for selection. Obtain the capacity and input map, fan duty and allowed operating envelope of the chosen model. Capacity at another ambient or an outdoor-air mode cannot be used to cover the project's mechanical-cooling peak without confirmation.
Specify the whole code and electrical variant
The catalogue coding distinguishes supply arrangement, nominal capacity, compressor number/type, cabinet, control configuration, refrigerant and power source. Its example code ends 230/1/60 while the explanatory sentence says 50 Hz. The parameter tables separately show 50 and 60 Hz versions. Ask for the complete model code and corrected selection rather than silently treating the conflicting sentence as an electrical instruction.
Top-supply and bottom-supply cabinet dimensions differ. Confirm the supply, nameplate, maximum current, starting behaviour, heater inclusion and allowed generator/backup configuration. The compressor's variable-speed/soft-start claims are not a completed generator or protective-device design.
Check when the outside-air mode must be inhibited
The brochure describes outside-air free cooling when the indoor/outdoor temperature difference is sufficient, with a default threshold of 2 °C and humidity-limit functionality. An air-filter protection device is offered for harsh/dusty conditions. These controls determine whether the unit can use the economiser; the annual 'up to 90%' saving is not unconditional.
The brochure describes free cooling as standard in its feature text but calls the table's free-cooling entry optional. Require an included-options schedule and current sequence of operation. Obtain the weather/load analysis, filtration scope, relief/exhaust path, contamination limits and remaining mechanical duty during humidity or filter inhibition. Outside-air cooling does not establish suitability for every equipment-room environment.
Separate standard ambient from extended options and storage
The selection page gives standard outdoor operation −30 to 46 °C with an 'up to 53 °C' note. Later prose broadly claims −30 to 53 °C, and the options list includes high-temperature operation to 53 °C and low-temperature operation to −40 °C. The live page prints −30 to 53 °C without the same option detail. Request the exact version and selected performance at the project's extreme conditions.
The −40 to 70 °C storage range is a different state. It does not prove continuous cooling at those extremes. For coastal exposure, approve the actual corrosion package and its component scope, rather than converting inland life-cycle wording into a site warranty.
Approve the wall openings, support and maintenance route
The 50 Hz UNI.7V1B2 schedule gives 1,010 × 698 × 2,148 mm and 229 kg unpacked. Its dimensional drawing uses separate mounting/opening symbols, some with different values from the overall schedule. Obtain a current coordinated general arrangement with wall cut-outs, bolts, weather seals, support and clearances. A packaged exterior location removes much indoor equipment, but still needs defined supply/return openings and room-side grille scope.
The supplier describes front service and removable panels. Check access for compressor, fans, filters and controller and the lifting/removal plan. Different cabinet/supply versions need their own drawing. The brochure's forklift handling statement excludes the 28 kW unit and should not become a universal handling instruction.
Close backup, protocols and witnessed control tests
A DC-powered EC supply-fan option is described for free cooling or emergency ventilation during AC failure; it is not proof that the compressor continues running from the same backup. Define available DC power, fan/control scope, environmental eligibility and remaining room heat removal. Establish lead/lag and common-controller dependencies where several units are used.
The controller section says RS485 Modbus RTU, while the standard-components section uses RS485 with TCP/IP wording. Obtain the actual protocol/card and point map instead of claiming both are delivered. Agree alarms, mode inhibition, failure response, restart and power-loss tests using the current supplier instructions. AHRI/ETL/CE and reliability/MTBF statements remain manufacturer claims without a reviewed current model listing or demonstrated site result.
