FREECOOL supplements an existing telecom or small equipment-room air conditioner by admitting cooler outdoor air. It is a direct-air ventilation product, so outdoor-air suitability and an adequate exhaust route matter alongside temperature. The inspected C1801V02.1 catalogue describes indoor/outdoor and split/packaged arrangements with AC or DC supply; these choices do not all deliver the same measured airflow.
The model code's nominal airflow is not the performance table. For example, an 18F1 packaged unit lists 1,450 m³/h, whereas the split 18F1 lists 1,750 m³/h. Their listed cooling at a 10 °C indoor/outdoor difference is 4.9 and 5.9 kW respectively. This brief keeps those configuration differences visible rather than advertising one unconditional capacity or the supplier's 30–90% saving claim as a measured result.
This is an equipment family; its range does not identify one orderable configuration.
Swipe the table, or focus it and use arrow keys, to read the conditions and sources.
| Parameter | Published value | Conditions and evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling method | Direct introduction of cooler outdoor air; coordinated with existing air conditioning | Official family description; useful operation depends on the room and outside-air conditions. Source |
| Packaged 18F1 example | 1,450 m³/h; 2.4 / 4.9 / 5.9 kW at Δt 5 / 10 / 12 °C | Original PDF page 6 performance table; not the split-unit value or a compressor rating. Source |
| Split 18F1 example | 1,750 m³/h; 2.9 / 5.9 / 7.1 kW at Δt 5 / 10 / 12 °C | Same source table, different construction. Installed flow/external resistance still need selection. Source |
| Power variants | DC input 36–57 V; AC input 220 V ±15% | Catalogue operating range. AC performance table specifically says indoor-installed units; do not infer every layout has either supply. Source |
| Environment limits | Operation −30 to +55 °C; storage −40 to +70 °C | Published component/working envelope, not an all-weather free-cooling capacity guarantee. Source |
A split unit has a main intake unit and separate air-discharge section. A packaged unit combines inlet/outlet and volume-control equipment. Identify wall openings, rain protection, discharge location and access on an actual room plan before selecting an indoor or outdoor installation. A supply fan without a coordinated discharge path cannot be accepted solely from a catalogue airflow.
The 18F1 examples illustrate why nominal codes should not decide the duty: the split version has higher listed airflow and cooling than the packaged version. Obtain the selected fan/room resistance point, dirty-filter allowance and the effect of the installed louvers and discharge assembly. Do not convert the 18 code directly into 1,800 m³/h delivered airflow.

Separate main and exhaust sections; 18F1 table airflow 1,750 m³/h and 5.9 kW at the same Δt.
The table gives cooling at three temperature differences rather than one fixed refrigeration output. Establish the room set point, design heat load and acceptable temperatures when ventilation can only cover part of the load. Request the changeover and air-conditioner-assist sequence when outdoor air warms or fan capacity is insufficient.
Annual savings require hourly weather, load, permitted outside-air hours and the existing air conditioner's energy use. The website's 30–90% range does not supply those inputs and is not a verified saving for this room. Include ventilation fan energy and all operating modes in a project estimate.
The catalogue separates G4 washable filtration and G2 pre-filtration from optional items including a disposable filter, differential-pressure switch and humidity sensor. Require the actual filter specification, alarm equipment and replacement/cleaning instructions. Printed filter classes are source descriptions, not a reviewed present test report or proof that the room meets a required cleanliness standard.
Humidity control is listed as an option, not an inherent capability of every unit. Have the room designer specify when outdoor air must be blocked because of humidity, contaminants or other environmental conditions and how the existing cooling maintains the load in that state. Do not infer that a broad working humidity range makes every outdoor-air condition suitable for electronics.
The source explicitly limits continued operation from a base-station 48 V supply during mains failure to the DC product. An AC unit's controls or an optional 24-to-48 V converter entry do not establish a complete DC-backed installation. Confirm exact polarity/input limits, electrical protection, available supply capacity and the selected fan/control load.
Emergency ventilation can still be temperature-limited. Agree the allowed room temperature and the cooling/power failure sequence; it is not a guarantee that outdoor air will remove the full load during a hot-weather outage. Obtain a coordinated power and cooling design rather than treating the DC fan as a replacement for mechanical cooling.
The family can coordinate one or two air conditioners; associated contactors and communications cards appear among optional equipment. Identify the existing equipment's control interfaces, the delivered contactors/points, alarm states and manual operating provisions. Request the exact current protocol map and permissions for any RS232, RS485 or PCOWEB interface.
The outdoor split 24F1 dimension table differs between the performance spread and the detailed drawing schedule. Use an approved model drawing to settle that discrepancy before wall work; no preferred dimension is assumed here. Obtain a dated quotation covering the complete assembly, current conformity documents, installation works and commissioned operating sequence. The platform has not tested FREECOOL or independently verified the webpage's ETL statement.
