01 / UNDERSTAND THE EQUIPMENT

Specify heated airflow through the actual filter and duct system

HBO's intake-filter hot-air package combines a fan, resistance heater and electrical controls with a visible cylindrical pleated intake filter. The original family photograph shows an orange heater casing above a black control enclosure on casters, a flanged hot-air connection and a side-mounted filter/fan arrangement. The official parameter poster gives heating power 3–50 kW, maximum air volume 1.8–75 m³/min, pressure 100–7,500 Pa and an outlet range from room temperature to 350°C. These are supplier series envelopes, not proof that one selected machine delivers every maximum together.

The useful procurement question is how the ordered assembly delivers the required air quantity and temperature while the filter adds resistance and collects contamination. The webpage does not disclose a HEPA, MERV or ISO 16890 filter grade, a pressure-versus-flow curve or a loaded-filter acceptance point. This brief keeps the filter function separate from a cleanroom or aseptic-air qualification and identifies the thermal, fan and control evidence required before using the package in a process.

Selection and application review

Choose one thermal point inside the catalogue envelope

The parameter poster provides four separate ranges. State entering-air conditions and the required outlet temperature at the required delivered flow. Ask the supplier to select the heater and fan together and provide the calculation basis and issued rating. Do not combine 75 m³/min, 7,500 Pa, 350°C and 50 kW into an invented simultaneous capacity.

Confirm whether flow is referenced to inlet air or actual heated air and identify the pressure measurement boundary. The poster does not state static versus total pressure. Heater-element kW also excludes any undisclosed fan, controls or auxiliaries. Obtain complete rated and measured input at the agreed operating duty rather than treating the largest heating rating as the whole electrical load.

Treat intake filtration as a resistance and maintenance decision

The photograph shows a pleated cylindrical filter at the fan side, while the construction poster identifies a configurable fan. This supports an intake-filtration configuration; it does not establish a certified clean-air class. Ask for the actual filter medium, efficiency/test classification, temperature exposure limit and replacement part. Do not promise HEPA performance, asepsis or suitability for pharmaceutical cleanrooms from the word filtered.

Obtain initial and permitted final filter pressure loss at the selected flow, plus the fan curve and means of detecting filter loading. Agree access and replacement arrangements. The minimum airflow required to operate the heater must be supported by the issued design; an absent interlock diagram cannot be replaced with a claim that the illustrated filter makes every use safe.

Confirm the ordered heater and control construction

The source's construction poster describes a high-temperature ceramic tube, 2080 nickel-chromium heating wire, a stainless sleeve, insulation and ceramic terminals. It also describes digital temperature control and an industrial-control interface. These are supplier statements about the offer, not inspected material certificates, an export electrical declaration or an implemented protocol specification.

Identify the actual sensor location and selected controller, heater switching arrangement and control interface. The ±1°C promotional claim lacks an inspected load, measurement location and test procedure; it is not a guaranteed process-product temperature tolerance. Request independent high-limit protection and a documented fan/heater sequence, including airflow loss, filter loading and power-return behaviour.

Define the process medium and installation boundary

The illustrated air-heating route is a direct electric resistance-heater package. It is not evidence of an induction-heating or gas-fired construction, even if a third-party listing uses those words. Specify the real air stream, moisture, dust and any vapour exposure. The reviewed page contains no inspected explosive-atmosphere approval; ordinary intake filtration cannot be extended to combustible dust or flammable vapour treatment.

Provide the duct arrangement, hot-air connection, expected thermal movement and service access. Ask for the selected casing/outlet temperature limits, guarding and issued mounting instructions. Casters in a family photograph show mobility, not approval to move a hot operating unit or an ingress-protection rating. The source's broad medical, food and nuclear application images are not independent qualification evidence.

Agree a test that answers the production need

Acceptance should establish delivered flow, the defined pressure, stabilized outlet temperature and complete electrical input at one agreed inlet/filter/duct condition. Request a separate record of temperature-protection and fan/heater-interlock tests using the ordered control design. Define the noise measurement basis if noise matters; the page does not establish sound performance at your duty.

Compare a quotation using the selected fan, filter, heater, control and accessories, with replacement-filter availability and maintenance instructions. Do not substitute promotional near-100% heat-transfer language for measured process efficiency or an energy-cost comparison. Exact ordered dimensions, current price, delivery, filter lifetime and independent performance results remain unknown.

  1. Issue the air and heat requirement

Name inlet conditions, delivered flow, outlet temperature and pressure convention at one duty.

  2. Close the filter and protection gaps

Get the selected filter grade/losses, fan curve, minimum airflow and issued interlock design.

  3. Verify the ordered package

Agree thermal/electrical measurements and protection tests under the specified filter and duct conditions.
