HBO circulating hot-air package: ratings, inlet air and the return loop
HBO's circulating hot-air package is an electric process air heater on casters. A separate motor and fan sit on the side of a heater and control casing. Its poster gives 3–50 kW of heater power, top air volumes of 1.8–75 m³/min depending on size, 100–7,500 Pa of wind pressure and outlets from room temperature up to 350°C. All power and size options sit under this one family.
The same poster states room-temperature inlet air. That matters for a circulating system: if you plan to feed hot process air back into the unit, ask HBO for the return-air temperature the fan, bearings, motor, seals, insulation and controls are built for, and get it written on the selected model. A return loop also needs an air-path drawing and a heat balance for your process. The fan layout differs from HBO's compact portable heaters.

Selection and application
Inlet temperature decides the loop
HBO prints room-temperature inlet air. Before closing a loop, ask whether a circulating build is available for your actual return temperature, and get a stated limit for the fan, motor arrangement, seals, insulation and heater inlet. The 350°C figure applies to the outlet only.
Ask for the circuit drawing with return, fresh-air and exhaust connections as your design needs them. The product name leaves open whether the process runs open, partly recirculating or fully closed. Attach any change HBO makes to the construction to the quotation revision.
Process air and heat duty
State the delivered airflow, the process inlet and outlet temperatures, the return condition and the system resistance, all at one operating state. Name any moisture, dust or vapour the process adds. HBO then sizes the heater and fan for those conditions; heater kW on its own says nothing about drying or moisture removal.
The 75 m³/min, 7,500 Pa and 350°C figures are separate limits and do not occur together. Ask for the reference volume, the pressure convention and the selected fan curve. Include filter, duct and process losses clean and in service, and check the pressure margin left after your ductwork.
Controls when return conditions change
A recirculating process can feed the heater air far warmer than an ambient test. Ask for the sensor positions, control sequence, heater switching and a separate over-temperature cut-out. Get HBO's stated response to a fan trip, low airflow and a change in the process connection, and test each one.
Agree which electrical loads are in the supply and the total package input. If energy saving matters, define the reference equipment, process output and measurement period and measure it on site. Ask which communication protocol the controller offers.
Accepting the connected unit
The photograph shows casters, handles and a side fan. Ask for the ordered dimensions, handling instructions and service access to the connected ducts, plus guidance on moving the unit and on outdoor use.
At acceptance, record the inlet and return conditions, delivered airflow, pressure on the agreed basis, settled temperatures and total input with the full circuit connected. Check the protective sequence on its own.
Settle the return temperature
Replace the ambient-inlet wording with a stated limit and air circuit for the selected model.
Select the process duty
Return conditions, air composition, delivered airflow, pressure and heat demand.
Test the connected assembly
Measured air, thermal and electrical figures and the protective controls.
Confirm in writing before ordering the circulating package
Put these questions to HBO and keep the signed answers with the order: the highest return-air temperature the selected fan, motor, seals and insulation accept; the airflow and pressure at your duty on a stated basis; the heater power and total input; the fresh-air and exhaust connections needed; the over-temperature cut-out and its setting; the response to fan failure; noise at a stated distance; and price and delivery.
